Apakah ituh? ya gampang aja… kalau lagi jalan kemudian sensor mendetect ada halangan di depan mobil, maka si sensor akan kasih tahu ke otak yang dihubungkan dengan pengereman. Otak akan memproses, dengan speed sekian apakah terlalu dekat jaraknya dengan mobil di dekatnya? Kalau terdetect ancamannya valid maka rem mobil kemudian akan memperlambat laju mobil.

Karena sistem in konon menurut survey begitu ampuh menurunkan angka kecelakaan maka fitur ini bakal jadi mandatory untuk semua mobil baru yang meluncur di Eropa. Tadinya kemampuan AEB ini hanya ada pada mobil-mobil Eropa dari brand atas-atas seperti Audi, Mercedez, tapi ya akan diperluas… seluruh mobil 2014 harus pakai gan! Eh… beritanya masih nggak sinkron, ada juga yang bilang kalau mau dapat safety rating 5 bintang, mulai tahun 2014 harus pakai AEB ini.
But this is about to change, as the EU has recently decreed that all new commercial vehicles must be fitted with AEB by November 2013, and everything else by 2014. AEB will also be a requisite for a five-star Euro NCAP safety rating, so say the folks at Autoweek.
Lebih detail lagi pabrikan membagi AEB ini menjadi 3 model, low speed kemampuan pengereman terhadap halangan pedestrian, kemampuan pengereman jalan harian dan AEB untuk kecepatan tinggi.
AEB works through the use of radar, laser or video to “watch” the road ahead. If the vehicle is seen to be approaching another one (or an object) at too high a rate of speed, the system can prime the brakes in anticipation of their use, or even apply full braking should the driver not respond.
